Oh wow I can't believe some genius created this tribe! I was younger than a lot of you, I bet, when OK came out. I was 12, in 7th grade, and took to it immediately. I was also obsessed with the ad campaign, of course, and called the OK line all the time to get my Feel OK message.

There was extra excitement for me because I wasn't allowed to drink caffeinated pop, so drinking OK was a big F You to my mom. It was sold in the vending machines at the rec center half a block from my house. I had to buy and drink OK in secret after school, and put the cans in the recycling at the rec center (I usually drank it over a game of table tennis with my girlfriends).

All I have is the delicious memory, and that is DEFINITELY NOT OK!

Wow....my husband and I went to my parents' for Easter dinner today (04/08/07), asked what we would like to drink, and to my amazement, pulled out a can of OK Soda from the fridge. My jaw dropped...I had no idea she still had a can, which I quickly confiscated before anyone dared to open it and ruin its pristine condition. Ah, the benefits of working at HEB in Austin, Texas in the early 90's finally reveal themselves...this can is going on a high shelf in the pantry, never to be opened...

hello new here to the tribe...i'm a 1st yr marketing student in college , weve been handed a project to do over the next few months the cool about it is , we are to atke a "failed" product and relaunch it ...on paper of course but i hope to actually present it to the coke company if al goes well. i'm still talking my group into picking O.K. soda but if all goes well i hope i could find help here if i need. please let me know if that would be cool. thanks momma k

Collector item cans......

Dude, for a brief while I had a collection of every single type of OK Soda can, bottle, 2-liter bottle available. I might even still have them. It's at my parents house. I vaguely remember my mom bitching about it, but it's possible I might still have them.

Anyway, If that OK Soda recipe in the other thread works, I'll supply the cans! The OK Soda tribe!!!

wow, alot of people on the internet talking about ok soda are either
idiots or they are liars...i hear all these people say "soda becomes
poison after so many years, you cant drink it, it will make you sick"
you people have no idea what the hell your talking about....ive bought
a few cans off ebay....got em cold in my fridge and drank em...
you know what happened????? NOTHING! know what it tasted like??
EXACTLY HOW IT DID IN 1994! made that *chhk* sound when i opened the can
fizzed up when i poured it in a glass and everything....

moral of the story: no matter how old a can of soda is, if its unopened, its fine to drink..

Waiting for Guffman

So I was on this date, and we were watching the movie "waiting for Guffman"

I don't know if you guys have seen it, but it's an amusing story about the town of Blaine Missouri holding a 150th anniversary celebration play to mark it's birthday.

The movie struck me as so-so.

But you know what's cool?

In the background of half the movie is an

OK SODA VENDING MACHINE!!!!!!!!!

In all it's glory. Sporting the male face.

I freaked out, and got all hyper. The girl just looked at me weird. Minus 10 points.

i remember living in portland when ok soda came out, and there was this huge controversy over the advertisements...the ad co. that came up with the concept for OK had decided to include six-pack flats (the cardboard carrier for a six-pack of bottles) in the week's issue of the willamette week.

bad idea. they wound up all over portland, discarded as soon as someone pulled a copy of WW out of a paperbox. there was a small uproar over the litter....

I was in a portable at my high school. I was feeling down and out, so my friend gave me an odd looking can of soda. What the Hell i thought as I took it from her. She had been giving out cans of this "OK Soda" all day. She knew someone who was responsible for distributing the stuff.

Brings a tear to my eyes whenever I think about it...

Hey, 'sup? So is there anyone in this tribe that was a launch team member like me? I was 16, and was hired by Coca-Cola in Knoxville, TN, along with about 12 other teens, to market the OK Soda launch in Knoxville. I used to remember getting case-loads of cans free from the bottler to go distribute them about high school and such. Plus, all the Launch Team Members got together to create a HUGE under 18 party at the Underground in the Old City. I sure do miss those days.
